Named for Theodore Roosevelt and opened in 1926, Roosevelt Elementary School is one of South Tampa’s best schools for children in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

Located on South Ferdinand Avenue, Roosevelt Elementary offers Spanish classes to its students, as well as ceramics, chorus, and computer arts as some of its extracurricular actives.

With a statewide performance ranking of 97.5% in 2016, Dale Mabry Elementary School offers such innovative extracurricular activities as yoga and orchestra to students from Pre-Kindergarten to 5th Grade, and also boasts a 13:1 student to teacher ratio, as well as an average testing score of an impressive 94.79 throughout the entire school.

Coleman Middle School offers South Tampa middle schoolers the option to learn Spanish, German, or Latin, as well as photography and video production, and participate in theater and dance.

In 2016, Coleman Middle School ranked higher than 89.9% of all of the other middle schools in the state of Florida, and has earned an “A” rating on the Governor’s Accountability Plan for 14 consecutive years.

Teenaged residents of South Tampa can benefit from attending Plant High School, which was recently honored by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top high schools in the country.

One of a trio of Hillsborough County schools to earn an “A” rating from the Florida Department of Education for at least 5 of the school years of the past decade, Plant High opened in 1927 and is popular amongst South Tampa families for its incredible athletics program, as well as its multiple community-focused service clubs.
